Danielle D'Amico has been named girls lacrosse coach at Westerville South High School.
She replaces Erin Balcerzak, who resigned following one season, during which the Wildcats went 6-12 overall and finished fifth (1-4) in the OCC-Ohio Division behind champion Pickerington Central (5-0).
D'Amico, 23, is a 2008 graduate of La Salle Academy in Providence, R.I., and 2012 graduate of Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. She played lacrosse at both schools.
D'Amico, who lives in Westerville, was an assistant coach for the women's lacrosse team at Kenyon College the past two seasons.
"I obviously want to win, but I want to build a program, too" D'Amico said. "From what I hear, they're starting on a lower side, so I would love to build them up. They had a lot of close games (this past season), so I would love to get the whole team ready. I really want them to just have fun playing lacrosse and learn a lot."
D'Amico is pursuing a master's degree in business administration from Ashland.
