Westerville South junior running back Jaelen Gill, one of the most highly recruited high school football players in central Ohio, is expected to miss the rest of the season with a leg injury suffered Sept. 2 at Gahanna, according to Wildcats coach Kyle Stout.

Gill was injured in the first half of the Wildcats' 23-6 loss.

"We still have a season to play, but it's a real tough kid to replace," Stout said. "Your heart hurts for him. You know the time that he puts in year-round. He's a junior captain for us. It always hurts when something happens to a player like that. It's not a good situation."

Last season, Gill rushed for 1,553 yards and 19 touchdowns on 189 carries and caught seven passes for 224 yards and three scores. He was named first-team all-district and all-OCC-Cardinal Division and second-team all-state.

South (0-2) will play host to Hilliard Darby (0-2) on Sept. 9.
