Whitehall police are investigating a series of deliveries made Aug. 9 to residences on Fairway Boulevard, Greenwood Place and Greenwood Drive.

In each instance, elderly couples received delivers from UPS for merchandise they did not order. However, because they were able to take possession of the merchandise, the would-be victims were able to return the property and receive refunds.

A resident in the 600 block of Fairway Boulevard received six complete Lego sets of "The Malevolence," all worth $900, as well as an Apple laptop computer.

Lego sets also were shipped to residences on Greenwood Place and Greenwood Drive.

The resident on Fairway Boulevard received the package as soon as it was delivered and called the vendor. The resident reported no fraudulent activities on existing credit cards.

Apparently, new credit unknown to the resident had been established.

A delivery to Greenwood Road had been made through PayPal with a "Bill me later" option, police said.

It appears the suspects intended to intercept the packages but were unable to do so, police said.
