Whitehall police reported a man with a gun entered Family Dollar, 5224 E. Main St., at 10:07 p.m. Jan. 19.

The man pointed a gun at the store manager and demanded that he open the safe.

The manager told the man it had a time delay, but the robber said, "Open the safe, or I will shoot you."

An employee in the back of the store opened a door causing an audible alarm to sound. The man grabbed the manager's shirt, damaged a counter and ran away, police said.

Police reported an unknown man attempted to steal a vehicle at 8 a.m. Jan. 16 in the 200 block of Parklawn Circle.

Six days later, the owner reported the incident, telling police he leaves keys inside the vehicle as multiple people at the residence use it.

On Jan. 16, the owner reported an unknown man was taking the vehicle. The owner reportedly confronted the man and struck his shoulder with a hammer. The thief shoved the owner away but crashed the vehicle, a Honda Ridgeline, into a pillar. The thief then ran away.

A robbery was reported at 7:10 p.m. Jan. 23 at Bernhard Road and East Main Street.

A 44-year-old woman told police an unknown person struck her on the back of the head and took $100 from her.

Police reported a burglary at 4:35 p.m. Jan. 17 at a residence in the 700 block of Ross Road.

An assault was reported at 2:15 p.m. Jan. 22 in the 5000 block of Dimson Drive South.

Police arrested a 32-year-old woman at 1:50 a.m. Jan. 18 for OVI and traffic violations at East Main Street and Country Club Road.

An assault was reported at 1:50 p.m. Jan. 18 at a store in the 3600 block of East Main Street.
