Man charged with discharging gun within city limits

Whitehall police arrested a 20-year-old Columbus man at 9 p.m. Feb. 11 for discharging firearms in the city limits and tampering with evidence. Police had responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment in the 400 block of South Yearling Road.

Multiple witnesses identified the suspect, police reports said. A woman told police the man, whom she had not seen in more than a year, was a former family friend who once attempted to steal property from her apartment.

In other recent Whitehall Police Department incident reports:

* Police arrested a 59-year-old Columbus man at 9:15 p.m. Feb. 12 for robbery in the 3800 block of East Broad Street.

Police reported the man attempted to rob a store employee in the Town and Country shopping center before fleeing in his car. An officer pursued the driver, who struck a parked car on Waverly Avenue and was apprehended.

* A robbery was reported at 10:20 p.m. Feb. 13 in the 4700 block of East Main Street.

A 29-year-old man told police he was walking from a gas station to his apartment when he saw three males approaching him, one of whom said, "I'm going to need everything out of your pockets" and lifted his shift to display a gun tucked inside his waistband.

The victim said he had only $2. The suspect searched him and also took cigarettes.

Police obtained a videotape at the store the victim and the suspects had departed immediately prior to the robbery.

* Police reported a robbery at 10:40 a.m. Feb. 9 at an apartment in the first block of Fairway Boulevard.

* A burglary was reported at 1:10 p.m. Feb. 8 in the 1000 block of Elaine Road.

* Property destruction was reported at 3:55 p.m. Feb. 8 in the 4200 block of Wright Park.

* Police arrested a 21-year-old woman at 7:20 p.m. Feb. 8 for petty theft and possession of criminal tools in the 5100 block of East Main Street.

* A burglary was reported at 8:20 p.m. Feb. 8 at an apartment in the 4600 block of Eastway Court.

* Police reported a burglary at 10:40 a.m. Feb. 10 in the 4700 block of Regency Square.

* A theft was reported at 11:15 a.m. Feb. 10 in the 4600 block of Langley Avenue.

* Police reported a vehicle was stolen at 3 a.m. Feb. 11 in the 3500 block of East Main Street.

* A theft was reported at 10:40 a.m. Feb. 11 in the 3500 block of East Main Street.

* Police reported a theft at 8:15 a.m. Feb. 12 in the 600 block of Elaine Road.

* Property destruction was reported at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 12 in the 600 block of Bernhard Road.

* Police arrested a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy at 3:50 p.m. Feb. 12 for disorderly conduct at Ross Road and Broadhurst Drive. Police had responded to a report of a fight in progress.

* Police arrested a 44-year-old man at 6:15 p.m. Feb. 12 for felonious assault in the 4500 block of East Main Street.

* A 51-year-old man was arrested at 6:20 p.m. Feb. 12 for assault at an apartment in the 3500 block of East Main Street.

* Police arrested a 13-year-old girl at 10:20 a.m. Feb. 13 for theft in the 3900 block of Andrus Avenue.

* A breaking and entering was reported at 3:15 a.m. Feb. 14 in the 5200 block of East Main Street.

* Property destruction was reported at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 14 in the 5200 block of East Main Street.

* Police arrested a 26-year-old woman at 9:55 a.m. Feb. 14 for endangering children in the 3600 block of East Broad Street.

* A theft was reported at 11 a.m. Feb. 14 in the 3900 block of East Main Street.
