Whitehall Board of Education members have scheduled a special meeting for 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the administrative offices of Whitehall City Schools, 625 S. Yearling Road.
According to the agenda, members will meet in executive session, or a closed meeting.
Board president Walter Armes said the purpose of the meeting is to further discuss the district’s ongoing effort to name a successor to Whitehall Superintendent Judyth Dobbert-Meloy, who last year announced her plans to retire after this school year.
Whitehall board members, apparently dissatisfied with the initial field of 37 superintendent candidates, voted on Feb. 14 to restart the search and set a March 6 deadline to solicit a new group of applicants.
Board members are expected to review the second list of applicants during their special meeting March 12.
The board’s next regularly scheduled meeting, at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 14, will be held at Rosemore Middle School, 4735 Kae Ave.
The meeting had been scheduled for the district’s administrative offices.
During the Feb. 14 meeting, board member Brandon Howard asked the district to resume its practice of meeting at various schools in the district, rather than at the administrative offices.
Board members previously met at school buildings in the district but suspended the practice during construction at all five schools in the district during the past two years.
