The Whitehall Community Celebration Association has begun planning the city's Fourth of July celebration.
Organizers are seeking nominations for the Whitehall Citizens of the Year, one male and one female, to be recognized as part of the festivities. Honorees must live in the city of Whitehall. Those who wish to make a nomination should provide the person's name and why they feel that person should be Citizen of the Year. Any volunteer activities the person has done will be looked favorably.
Nominations can be sent via email to TheWCCA@wowway.com or mailed or dropped off to 402 N. Hamilton Road, Whitehall, Ohio 43213 by June 15.
The nomination will be judged by people who do not live in the community.
The Fourth of July Parade will start at 10 a.m. July 4, at the corner of East Broad Street and Yearling Road. The route will travel south on Yearling Road to Etna Road, turn left and proceed east on Etna Road to the north end of John Bishop Park.
The theme for the parade is "Old Traditions; New Opportunities."
Parade applications are available by sending an email to TheWCCA@wowway.com or by visiting the Park & Recreation building, the Whitehall branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, City Hall or the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce.
A Family Picnic will be held in the park after the parade until 6 p.m.
