A 10-year-old Whitehall girl sustained minor injuries June 13 after being hit by a Whitehall police cruiser.
The officer’s vehicle struck the girl when she ran into the street from between two parked cars on Wright Avenue.
The accident occurred at 3:51 p.m. June 13 as the officer was driving west on Wright Avenue and approaching a stop sign at Pierce Avenue. A video camera recorded the girl running from between parked cars on the north side of Wright Avenue and into the cruiser, traveling at a reduced rate of speed as the officer was approaching an intersection, police said.
Whitehall medics arrived and treated the girl for minor abrasions and bruises, police said. The officer will not be charged with any traffic offenses, police said.
