Whitehall: Man hits Walmart workers, faces robbery charges

Whitehall police arrested a 44-year-old man for three counts of robbery Sept. 3 stemming from an incident at Walmart, 3657 E. Main St.

Upon arrival, police found two employees detaining the suspect, who allegedly had assaulted both employees. The employees confronted the man, who allegedly had stolen bed sheets, police said.

A witness told police she saw the suspect punch the female employee in the head and then assault a male employee who had intervened. The suspect bit the male employee's hand, police said.

Medics treated the employees and transported one of them to an area hospital.

The alleged robber was taken to the Franklin County Jail.

Police added a third count of robbery upon discovering another employee had been involved in the altercation.

* Police arrested a 34-year-old Chillicothe man for robbery at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at Walmart after the man allegedly assaulted two employees who confronted him for shoplifting. The man ran away from the store but was arrested a short time later in the 800 block of Center Street, police said.

* A 23-year-old man was arrested for discharging a firearm in a habitation in the 5300 block of Gatehouse Drive.

Police responded to a report of shots fired and observed a man and woman inside a vehicle in the parking lot. The man told police he had a gun -- 9-mm handgun with 11 rounds in the magazine and one chambered.

The man told police a person had attempted to break into his apartment. Another person told police he saw the man fire four shots after both saw what appeared to be a person near the sliding door of the apartment.

* Police reported a robbery at 4:10 a.m. Sept. 2 in the 4600 block of Wright Avenue.

* Police arrested a 22-year-old man for assault and a 19-year-old woman for outstanding warrants at 6 p.m. Sept. 4 in the 300 block of South Hamilton Road.

* Police responded to a report of shots fired at 10:15 a.m. Aug. 29 in the first block of South Hamilton Road.

* Police responded to a report of shots fired at 12:25 a.m. Aug. 31 in the 4500 block of East Broad Street.

* A burglary was reported at 1:15 p.m. Aug. 29 in the 800 block of Rosemore Avenue.

* Police responded to a report of shots fired at 9:10 p.m. Aug. 29 at Bernhard Road and Wright Avenue. No physical evidence or suspects were identified.

* Police responded to a report of shots fired at 8:40 p.m. Aug. 31 in the 3900 block of Beechbank Road. No physical evidence or suspects were identified.

* A burglary was reported at 7:35 p.m. Sept. 4 at an apartment in the 3900 block of Andrus Court.

* Police reported a burglary at 1:15 p.m. Aug. 30 at an apartment in the 400 block of South Hamilton Road.

* Police arrested a 17-year-old boy at 7:20 p.m. Aug. 30 for criminal mischief in the first block of Collingwood Avenue.

* A burglary was reported at 12:25 p.m. Aug. 31 at a residence in the 4400 block of Duchene Lane.

* Police reported a burglary at 2:15 p.m. Aug. 31 in the 200 block of South Yearling Road.

* Property destruction was reported at 2 p.m. Sept. 1 in the 4500 block of Saint Ann Lane.

* Police arrested a 23-year-old man for criminal damaging at 4:55 p.m. Sept. 1 at an apartment in the 500 block of South Hamilton Road.

* A burglary was reported at 5 p.m. Sept. 1 in the 700 block of Exeter Road.

* Police responded to a report of shots fired at 9:25 p.m. Sept. 1 in the 5000 block of Winslow Drive.

* A theft was reported at 3:25 p.m. Sept. 2 in the 4200 block of Wright Park.

* Police reported a burglary at 11:30 p.m. Sept. 2 in the 600 block of South Hamilton Road.

* Police reported a burglary at 2 p.m. Sept. 3 in the 700 block of Beechwood Road.

* Police arrested a 26-year-old woman for disorderly conduct at 2:35 p.m. Sept. 3 in the 4200 block of East Main Street.

* Police responded to a report of shots fired at 8 p.m. Sept. 3 in the 4200 block of Beechlawn Road. No physical evidence or suspects were identified.

* A burglary was reported at 12:35 p.m. Sept. 4 at an apartment in the 4300 block of East Broad Street.

* A theft was reported at 7:15 a.m. Sept. 5 in the 4700 block of East Broad Street.

* Property destruction was reported at 7:45 a.m. Sept. 5 in the 200 block of Barkley Place East.

* A theft was reported at 11:20 a.m. Sept. 5 in the 100 block of Ross Road.
