The indoor activity center at Whitehall Community Park, 402 N. Hamilton Road, will remain closed until at least Wednesday, Jan. 15, city officials said.
Repair work on the center's HVAC systems was scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 6, and is expected to be completed Jan. 15.
The indoor activity center and the administrative offices of the recreation and parks department are expected to reopen Jan. 15 if no other issues are discovered, said Gail Martineau, Whitehall's public affairs coordinator.
A lack of heat Dec. 5 prompted city officials to inspect the center's HVAC system, and leaks were discovered in the boiler.
A small number of staff members have remained present, despite the lack of running water, but the center has been closed since Dec. 5.
All activities have been relocated or suspended until the repairs are complete.
A precise cost for the repair is not yet known, but existing revenue in the parks fund should cover the cost, Martineau said.
