Whitehall: Shots fired in parking-lot melee; four arrested

Whitehall police arrested four people after gunfire erupted at 2:10 a.m. March 15 in a parking lot at South Hamilton Road and Rickenbacker Avenue.

Police arrested Anthony Jerome Keys, 35, of Olmstead Avenue on charges of felonious assault, discharging a firearm, possession of a weapon under disability, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct.

A 37-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct and two other men were arrested for misconduct at an emergency.

Multiple witnesses at the scene identified a vehicle whose occupants had a gun, according to reports.

Witnesses told police people were gathered for a birthday party and a dispute spilled into a parking lot, where shots were fired.

The vehicle's owner, who was not in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, gave police permission to search it and a firearm was located.

The gun had been reported stolen, police said.

It was initially believed a man had been shot, according to reports.

A man at the scene was transported to Grant Medical Center but it was later determined the lacerations to his head did not result from a gunshot, police said.

Several people were arrested for yelling and taunting officers as police worked to gain control of the scene, according to reports.
