Whitehall: 16-year-old charged for trying to punch principal

Whitehall police arrested a 16-year-old boy at 1:50 p.m. March 25 for assault, a fifth-degree felony, at Whitehall-Yearling High School, 675 S. Yearling Road.

Officers were summoned to the school on a report of an unruly juvenile. The boy attempted to punch the principal of the school, striking his hands, police reports said.

An officer tackled the boy and he was arrested without further incident, reports said.

In other recent incident reports from the Whitehall Division of Police:

* Police arrested a 16-year-old girl March 27 for disorderly conduct in connection with an assault that occurred March 25 at Whitehall-Yearling High School, 675 S. Yearling Road.

A video recording showed the girl following and repeatedly attempting to punch a male student who attempted to walk away from the girl, police said.

* A 24-year-old woman told police her ex-boyfriend, a 42-year-old man, broke a window at 8:30 a.m. March 26 and attempted to enter her apartment in the first block of Fairway Boulevard.

The woman reported he yelled at her to let him inside but she ignored him. About three hours later, as she left the apartment the man accosted her, she reported. He forced her back inside the apartment and took her cellphone, police said.

The man pinned her to the floor and attempted to have sex with her, responding he did not care if she called police, police reports said. After letting her off the floor, he asked for money, then punched her and took $17, according to reports.

The man remained at the apartment until the following morning when he left to take his children to school, according to the report.

Warrants for robbery, kidnapping and criminal damaging were issued against the man, police said.

* Burglaries were reported: at 6:40 a.m. March 20 in the first block of Collingwood Avenue; at 7:50 p.m. March 20 in the 4000 block of Powell Avenue; at 6 a.m. March 21 in the 3700 block of Elm Street; at 9:55 a.m. March 21 in the first block of Beechwood Road; and at 4:55 p.m. March 26 in the 400 block of Cumberland Drive.

* Thefts were reported: at 8:20 a.m. March 20 in the 400 block of South Hamilton Road; at 3:15 p.m. March 20 in the 4700 block of East Broad Street; at 3:45 p.m. March 20 in the 200 block of Schofield Drive; at 5:20 p.m. March 20 in the 100 block of Fairway Boulevard; at 7:55 p.m. March 21 in the 400 block of Shell Court East; at 1:10 p.m. March 25 in the 400 block of Robinwood Avenue; and at 6:10 p.m. March 25 in the 700 block of South Hamilton Road.

* Assaults were reported: at 5:20 a.m. March 21 in the 4800 block of East Main Street; at 12:25 p.m. March 21 in the 400 block of North Hamilton Road; at 8:40 p.m. March 22 in the 5200 block of East Main Street; at 11:25 p.m. March 22 in the 4300 block of East Main Street; and at 9:45 a.m. March 27 in the 1000 block of South Hamilton Road.

* Police responded to a report of shots fired at 8:40 a.m. March 24 at Rickenbacker and Westphal avenues. No physical evidence or suspects were identified.

* A vehicle was reported stolen at 2:15 p.m. March 24 in the 4200 block of East Broad Street.

* Property destruction was reported: at 2:20 a.m. March 26 in the 3800 block of East Main Street; at 7:05 p.m. March 26 in the 5100 block of East Main Street; at 7:20 p.m. March 26 in the 4200 block of Beechrun Road; and at 11:45 a.m. March 27 in the 4500 block of Eastway Court.

* Police arrested a 19-year-old woman at 10:40 p.m. March 25 for domestic violence and assault in the 200 block of Midcliff Drive.
