Whitehall: Burglary report leads to chase, three felony arrests

Whitehall police arrested four people early Aug. 13 in connection with a burglary at a residence in the 400 block of Beechtree Road.

Police arrested Tyrone L. Ackerman Jr., 38, of East Deshler Avenue, on felony charges of aggravated burglary, tampering with evidence and failure to comply with the order of a police officer.

Donald E. Winphrie, 26, of East Deshler Avenue, was arrested for aggravated burglary, a felony; and Alisha C. Pass, 43, of Kariba Drive, was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated burglary.

Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress shortly after midnight Aug. 13 and stopped a vehicle at East Broad Street and South Hamilton Road that witnesses reported had fled from the scene.

The driver initially fled south on South Hamilton Road and west on East Main Street, disregarding traffic signals, police said, before continuing north on Erickson Avenue and west on Wright Avenue.

The driver avoided "stop-sticks," or tire-flattening devices, on South Yearling Road. Police reported it appeared a firearm was thrown from the vehicle before the driver stopped at South Yearling Road and East Broad Street. Police recovered a loaded .45-caliber pistol, according to reports. A second gun also was reported thrown from the vehicle and recovered.

Police found ammunition, cellphones, a box of latex gloves and an empty pillow case in the vehicle, according to reports.

Several hours later, police returned to the Beechtree Road residence where the burglary had occurred because narcotics were found at the site, reports said.

Police advised the occupants a search warrant was being obtained.

Police arrested a 34-year-old Reynoldsburg woman at the residence for obstructing official business, resisting arrest and interfering with a criminal investigation after she allegedly disobeyed an officer's orders and attempted to enter the home, reports said.
