After roughly 20 years at is current Park Road location, the NorthWorthington Pet Clinic will open Saturday in a larger building at 454 Lazelle Road.

On a related note, the clinic's name has been changed to Lifetime Pet Wellness Center.

The expanded facility, designed by veterinary architect group Copich & Associates, will feature such amenities as five exam rooms, a larger reception area, a larger surgery suite, and a room for client education and community events.

Owner Jim Carlson, also a veterinarian, said the clinic will continue to offer the full repertoire of traditional care -- general medicine, dental and surgery -- as well as integrative treatments such as certified acupuncture, spine manipulation and herbal medicine.

The 6,100-square-foot clinic, to employ 14 full- and part-time employees, will have better parking and provide more comfort for clients and their pets.

"We're excited to be in the new building," Carlson said. "We're still the same people but we wanted to change the name for our new philosophy. We just want to focus on wellness to help keep patients healthy."

Carlson's chiropractic and acupuncture techniques were once featured in a video project that appeared on www.ThisWeekNews.com. He said that the alternative-medicine portion of his practice has grown.

"It's always better to get the root cause," he said. "And we like integrative, not just holistic, so it's better to do a combined approach."
