Old Worthington Library's book discussion group will discuss Maria Doria Russell's "A Thread of Grace" at 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday). Set in Italy during the dramatic finale of World War II, this novel is the first in seven years by the bestselling author of "The Sparrow" and "Children of God."

The "A Good Yarn" book group will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Old Worthington Library. Bring a knitting project and talk about Sally Goldenbaum's book "Death by Cashmere."

School-age children will enjoy crafts, games and activities at a party celebrating Judy Moody and her little brother, Stink, the star of Megan McDonald's books. The event will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Worthington Park Library. Registration is required.

Children in grades 4-6 are invited to Old Worthington Library to watch "The Spiderwick Chronicles" at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28. Participants will then find the hidden mysteries during a scavenger hunt.

A 13-week English Conversation Group for new English learners will meet on Tuesdays at Northwest Library. Classes will meet at 3:30 p.m. March 3-May 26. Sessions will be coordinated and supervised by a librarian, and will be aimed at people with basic English skills who wish to work on their conversational abilities and pronunciation with the help of a native speaker.

A Writing Workshop for ages 12-18 will meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Worthington Park Library. Writing exercises will get both mind and pen moving. Bring samples of work. Workshops will also be held April 1 and May 6.

A series of gardening and landscaping workshops will be held at 7 p.m. Thursdays at Old Worthington Library. March 5: Creating a Certified Wildlife Habitat with Suzan Jervey and Marc Apfelstadt. March 19: Creating a Rain Garden with Stephanie Suter. April 2: Victory Gardening for the 21st Century with Joanne Dole.

Registration is still open for the next workshop in Old Worthington Library's writing series, "Mark My Words." "Crafting the Novel" will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 7. Author and former "Kenyon Review" fiction editor Nancy Zafris will lead the workshop. Learn structural strategies that will be beneficial to all writers. Time will be reserved for questions and discussion. Free. Registration is required.
