"We Are So Lightly Here," an exhibit by artist Kathleen Pepicello, will be on display in the Worthington Community Center, 345 Wilson Bridge Road, through July 27.

The show is sponsored by the McConnell Arts Center as part of the 2009 Visual Arts Exhibition Series, which aims to promote local artists' work.

Pepicello's work features textured paintings made from oil, encaustic and resin. Her paintings were inspired by individual stories from Rwanda and Darfur.

High Road Gallery, 12 E. Stafford Ave., will open "11 Brushes" July 1. The show will run through July 25.

Chaired by Carolyn Heffelfinger, the show features artists Gary Chaconas, Richard Clem, John Daniels, Elaine Freeman, Angela Gage, Maria White, Mary Hologaugh, Michael Kaiser, Karen LaValley and Michelle Morris.

The artists work in a variety of styles and subjects. Also included in the show are Lou Henry with 3-D pieces and Aimee Mackey with jewelry designs.

A reception for the artists will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 5. Admission is free.

Gallery hours are 12 noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. The gallery will be open July 4.
