Learn to knit day slated

Knitters Mercantile in the Graceland Shopping Center will be holding "Learn to Knit Day" on Saturday, Jan. 30.

"Learn to Knit Day is designed to showcase this ancient fiber art, explore projects and provide an open opportunity to explore the craft without stress," according to the announcement. "Participants can experience knitting through instructor-led classes that will run throughout the day. Classes are unstructured and allow for participants to stay as long as they like during the day."

A fee of $25 covers supplies of needles and yarn as well as the instruction for those wishing to learn the basics of knitting. There is no charge for people who simply want to watch knitters in action.
