Worthington area public officials will recap 2009 and make predictions on what to expect in 2010 at the 15th annual Groundhog Day Forecast Breakfast of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce.

The event will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Brookside Golf and Country Club, 2770 W. Dublin-Granville Road. Check-in and a buffet breakfast will take place from 7 to 7:30 a.m., followed by the program. The meeting will end by 9 a.m.

Discussing their forecasts for the year will be city manager Matt Greeson, Worthington City Schools superintendent Melissa Conrath and Meribah Mansfield, director of Worthington Libraries.

The speakers will summarize key accomplishments of their respective organizations during 2009 and discuss continuing budgetary issues facing these public institutions and the potential impact on area businesses. They also are expected to share some highlights of the recent Worthington Area 360 visioning conference that convened community leaders to help shape a cohesive strategic plan for the city, schools and libraries.

Kathryn Paugh, executive director of the chamber, will share findings from a survey of chamber-member businesses that probed the business community's views on the economy and their forecasts for the coming year.

The cost to attend the event is $18 per chamber member; $23 for nonmembers. The registration deadline is Thursday, Jan. 28. To reserve a place, call the chamber at 888-3040 or register online through the calendar of events on the Chamber's Web site, www.worthingtonchamber.org.
