Northwest Library's outdoor concert season will close at 7 p.m. Friday, July 30, with a performance by the Scioto Valley Brass & Percussion Company. Selections will include "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," "Carnival of the Animals," "Blue Danube" and the "Pink Panther" theme. It will be held in the library if it rains.

During Dr. Dave's Whiz Bang Science Show, children in kindergarten through eighth grades will watch a real hot air balloon take off, get wet with water rockets and learn how a plane stays in the sky. The program begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug.4, at Northwest Library.

Speaking Volumes will meet to discuss "The Lacuna" by Barbara Kingsolver at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Old Worthington Library.

Students ages 12 to 18 are invited to create a playlist for a favorite book at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at Northwest Library. Soundtracks will be featured on the Worthingteens MySpace page.
