An eight-week English Conversation Group for new English language learners is scheduled on Tuesdays throughout the winter at Northwest Library. Class meetings are scheduled at 3:30 p.m., starting Tuesday, Jan. 4, and continuing through Feb. 22. The sessions will be coordinated and supervised by a librarian, and are aimed at people with basic English skills who wish to work on their conversational abilities and English pronunciation with the help of a native speaker.

"The Children's Book," by A.S. Byatt, will be the topic of the 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, meeting of Speaking Volumes, an evening book discussion group at Old Worthington Library. This novel, written by a Booker Prize author, spans the Victorian era through World War I and focuses on a famous children's book author.

On Wednesday, Jan. 5, actors from Columbus Children's Theatre will bring "Alice in Wonderland" to life. The performance, geared toward children in kindergarten through third grade, will start at 7 p.m. at Northwest Library.

Dr. David Sabgir, cardiologist and founder of Walk with a Doc, will present "Preventing Cardiovascular Disease " at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Old Worthington Library. The program is presented in partnership with the Healthy Worthington Coalition as part of their Wellness Awareness: Top Preventable Diseases series.
