Community and legislative leaders will keynote two upcoming events presented by the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce during the first week of February.

The public is invited to the Chamber's annual Groundhog Day Business Forecast Breakfast on Feb. 2 and a legislative update from Congressman Steve Stivers on Feb. 4.

The Groundhog Day Breakfast will be held at Brookside Country Club, 2770 W. Granville Road. Check-in, networking and a buffet breakfast begin at 7 a.m. The program will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

Speakers include Worthington city manager Matt Greeson; economic development manager Jeff Harris; Worthington Libraries director Chuck Gibson; and Worthington Schools superintendent Melissa Conrath.

They will explore their predictions for 2011 and outline the ways that the city, schools and libraries are refocusing to support business.

The chamber will also share survey data indicating how chamber members view the economy and how their businesses are faring, compared to last year at this time.

The event is sponsored by AT&T and WM Business Coaching.

Businesses and residents can get to know the congressman representing the 15th Congressional District at a breakfast at Holiday Inn Columbus/Worthington, 7007 N. High St., Worthington. Check-in and breakfast begin at 7 a.m.; the program follows at 7:30 and will conclude at 9 a.m.

Reflecting on his first critical days "on the Hill," freshman Congressman Steve Stivers will discuss health care reform, reaction to the State of the Union address, Fiscal Year 2012 spending/budget and Stivers' work on the Financial Services Committee. The Congressman also will answer questions.

In addition to the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce, sponsors of the event include the Columbus, Hilliard Area, Greater Clintonville, Grandview Area, Upper Arlington Area and Southeast Franklin County chambers of commerce and the U.S. Chamber.

The cost to attend the Groundhog Day Breakfast is $20 for chamber members and $25 for non-members. Registration for the Legislative Update is $15 per person.
