Try NoveList, a Worthington Libraries database designed to help you find titles or authors similar to ones you already enjoy.

To find NoveList, start at worthingtonlibraries.org, click on the Research tab at the top of the page and go to “All research databases A-Z.” The “N” will take you to NoveList and NoveList K-8, where you can browse recommended reads for adults, teens, middle-schoolers and young readers in a variety of genres.

Search NoveList for recommendations by entering authors, titles, series titles, characters or keywords to describe a plot. Once you’ve found a book you like, you can read reviews, find series information and link to information about the author and a complete list of the author’s titles.

To find your next read, you can also check out author read-alikes. For example, if you’re a fan of Karen Robards, you might also like the novels of Iris Johansen. Give writer Gayle Greeno a try, or the fantasy series Song of Ice and Fire and Farseer by George R.R. Martin and Robin Hobb.

Younger readers can try NoveList K-8 to find age-appropriate books for pleasure reading as well as school assignments. NoveList K-8 includes fiction and non-fiction book titles and has many added features such as “Recommended Reads” book lists, first chapter excerpts, Lexile scores and popularity ratings.
