Technology Petting Zoo

Just in time for holiday shopping, the library will host a Technology Petting Zoo at 2 p.m. on Dec. 4. Before you rush out to buy the Next Big Thing, get hands-on with iPads, iPods and eReaders like the Nook Simple Touch, Nook Color and Amazon Kindle.

Try before you buy at this event, planned at Old Worthington Library, 820 High St. Library staff will be available to answer questions.

Couponomy

Not only did Cate Taylor slash her grocery budget by 60 percent when she lost her job in 2009, she’s managed to sustain her saving streak for over two years. On Jan. 12, this local mom will discuss the best places to find coupons and deals and ways to stay organized. She’ll also provide insights into how to bring it all together to maximize savings.

Couponomy will start at 7 pm at Northwest Library, 2280 Hard Road.

eBooks: Check ‘Em Out.

Okay, you were given an eReader for the holidays. Now what? Learn how to access the library’s free eBook collection with your eReader during hands-on workshops scheduled on Jan. 18 at Old Worthington Library and Jan. 26 at Northwest Library.

Bring your device to either program, both of which start at 7 p.m., or you can borrow one, if needed. Registration is required and starts Dec. 1; call 614-807-2626.

February by the Fire

Old Worthington Library’s most popular music series, February by the Fire, will return on Friday afternoons this winter. Bring the family and don’t miss a single performance, scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m. in the library’s fireplace area.

Sponsored by the Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries and coordinated in partnership with the Jazz Arts Group, the series lineup includes pianists Dave Powers (Feb. 3) and Mark Flugge (Feb. 24), the Teen String Quartet (Feb. 10) and the Ukulele Cowboy Society (Feb. 17).
