Natalie Jackson and her father Charlie are about to fire up a true New York City-style pizzeria in Worthington.
Natalie’s Coal Fired Pizza will open in mid-May at 5601 N. High St. in a portion of the old W.C. Gathers spot.
Indeed, it will feature an oven fueled by anthracite, a clean-burning and efficient coal, Charlie Jackson said. The oven temperature will be in the 800 to 1,000 degree range.
The pizza, which will have a thinner crust and fresh toppings, was inspired by such New York pizzerias as John’s in Greenwich Village and Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn, he said.
Jackson stopped short of calling it the only coal-fired pizzeria in Ohio.
However, “We haven’t found one yet,” he said.
In addition to pizza, the place will feature live music on a frequent basis, he said. The place will occupy 2,400 square feet of space.
