More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the St. Michael Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 31-Sept. 2.

More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the St. Michael Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 31-Sept. 2.

All of the attractions that traditionally draw crowds will return this year, including the food, the midway, the entertainment and the casino.

Festival hours are 7 to 11 p.m. Friday and 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The church is at 5750 N. High St. Admission and entertainment are free.

Games and rides are designed for children of all ages.

A silent auction will include gifts, tickets and gift certificates to area restaurants, jewelers, salons and services. Prizes in the cash raffle will total $2,500, with a grand prize of $1,500.

The casino will include favorite games such as poker and blackjack.

The menu will include slow-roasted corn, pizza, fries and baked goods.

New will be a showing of the film, King of Kings, prior to the start of the festival on Sunday. The movie will be accompanied by the organ, played by Shawn Kenney.

The entertainment lineup includes Double Play, 8 to 11 p.m. Friday; Michael Rose, 6:15 to 7 p.m. Saturday; The English Project, 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday; Swings the Thing Big Band, 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday; and Gas Pump Jockeys, 8 to 11 p.m. Sunday.

Visitors will receive free tokens for games and rides for donating canned food items for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which operates a food pantry and other community outreach programs. One token will be given for each donated item, up to 20 tokens per family.

All proceeds from the garage sale booth also will go to the society.
