Golfers from throughout the area will play in the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce golf outing Sept. 10 at York Golf Club.

The 29th annual event has become known as one of the top golf outings in central Ohio, according to chamber director Kathryn Paugh.

The scramble annually attracts approximately 100 golfers, she said.

Besides golf at the the private club set along the lush banks of the Olentangy River, the event will offer opportunities for networking and prizes, food and drink, and gift packages.

Registration begins at 10 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 11.

The registration fee includes 18 holes of golf with cart; use of the practice range; bag-drop service and locker-room use; a boxed lunch from Jimmy John's; a gift bag of products from Chamber-member businesses; a barbecue buffet dinner and awards ceremony; complimentary beverages on the course; door prizes and raffle prizes; and shrimp cocktail and Bloody Marys "on the turn," sponsored by The Laurels of Norworth and The Laurels of Worthington.

Participants may register as singles, in pairs or as foursomes. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishing teams, and golfers will have opportunities to win additional prizes through skill holes on the course.

Five hole-in-one contests, sponsored by France & Associates Inc., offer a top prize of $10,000 ($5,000 for the player, $5,000 for the chamber), along with round-trip airline tickets; a choice of premium golf equipment; a premium electronics package; and a men's or women's Seiko watch.

Holiday Inn Columbus-Worthington is the presenting sponsor of the 2012 chamber golf outing. Corporate sponsors are The Laurels of Norworth and The Laurels of Worthington and B&C Blacktop Sealing Co.

J. Liu Restaurant & Bar is the flag sponsor. Fifth Third Bank and Comfort Inn Polaris are beverage-cart sponsors. Friendship Village of Columbus is the putting-green sponsor.

Each hole also is sponsored by a local business.
