Drive-up donation center set up at fire station

By ThisWeek Community News  •

Worthington firefighters again will make giving a little easier with a drive-up donation center Saturday, Dec. 15.

From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Worthington fire station, 6500 N. High St., will be open to accept donations of toys for the Firefighters for Kids drive and food for the Worthington Food Pantry and Resource Center.

The fire department is teaming with Worthington A.M. Rotary and the Worthington Kiwanis to conduct the food drive at the same time as the drop-off for toy donations for needy families.

Specific foods needed by the pantry are listed online at worthingtonfoodpantry.org.

Donated toys should be new and unwrapped. They should be for children of any age, but a particular need is for gifts for boys and girls ages 8-12.

Gift cards, cash or check donations also are welcomed.

The toys will be distributed to boys and girls in central Ohio who otherwise might go without them this year.

For those who can't drop off toys Dec. 15, the fire department will continue to accept donations through Dec. 24. Donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

For more information, call the Worthington Division of Fire at 614-885-7640. Families in need of assistance should call the Columbus call center at 311 or visit 311.columbus.gov.
