Even more sponsors and exhibitors have signed up to ensure that the Health and Fitness Fair at the Shops at Worthington Place will be a success Thursday, Jan.10.
Fair hours are noon to 6 p.m. and will include more than 50 exhibitors, including health professionals of all kinds, many of them prepared to perform tests to help visitors determine the state of their health.
OhioHealth will be on hand to do mammograms and bone-density tests. Both must be set up in advance by calling central scheduling at 566-111.
Other screenings will include biometrics, heel bone, skin cancer, heart health, lung capacity, glaucoma and vision, and oral cancer.
Dozens of demonstrations and seminars are slated -- on everything from cooking to desk exercises.
New dates have been set for the Worthington Weight Loss Challenge. Participants may sign up at the fair between Jan. 7 and 13 on the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce's website: worthingtonchamber.org. The challenge begins Jan 14.
Entrants pay $5 and sign up for one of four nonprofit organizations: the chamber, Healthy Worthington Food Pantry and Resource Center, Leadership Worthington or the Worthington Educational Foundation.
Each participant will be assigned to an anonymous website to receive help and resources to help in their weight loss. No one will know to whom the advice is going.
Each participant will be encouraged to return to walk at the mall weekly for 10 weeks.
The weight-loss challenge will conclude March 25. The team with the highest percentage of weigh loss will win the jackpot from all of the losers.
Anthem Blue Cross-Blue Shield is the presenting sponsor. Corporate sponsors are OhioHealth, Healthy Worthington Food Pantry and Resource Center, Homewell Senior Care, The Rite Bite's Rite for You Corporate Wellness Program, and Brookdale Senior Living, Trillium Place, Emerald Crossings and Sterling House.
