Worthington up to 26 retiring teachers
The retirements of six more teachers were accepted by the Worthington Board of Education on Feb. 11.
So far, 26 teachers have announced they will retire at the end of this school year.
The board expects a record number of departures this year because many teachers are reaching retirement age and because of changes in State Teachers Retirement System regulations.
Resignations are accepted through early summer.
Newly announced retirees are: Roberta Davis, sixth grade, Worthington Estates Elementary School; Janet Ellis, librarian, Worthington Kilbourne High School; Shelley Engler, speech language pathologist, special education; Marcia Hoffman, reading, Colonial Hills Elementary School; Michael Miller, industrial technology, Kilbourne Middle School; and Jim VanArsdale, mathematics, Worthingway Middle School.
