Library Lines

What do more than 8,000 central Ohio children, Worthington Libraries and teens have in common? The 2013 Summer Reading League, of course!

In fact, teens looking for a fun and rewarding way to spend the summer should look no further than the Library, which currently needs enthusiastic and responsible volunteers.

Volunteens will assist at all three library locations by helping participants register for the 2013 Summer Reading League and handing out prizes. Volunteens also help with other library programs and projects as needed.

The assistance the Library receives from Volunteens in the summer is tremendous. Without their help, it would be impossible to conduct the Summer Reading League and perform the daily tasks necessary to keep three busy children's departments running smoothly.

Volunteering at the Library is a great way to make a difference in the community, have tons of fun and meet new friends. It also helps improve communication skills, demonstrates responsibility and maturity and looks great on resumes and college applications.

All teens are welcome to volunteer at the Library this summer. To be eligible, they must be at least 12 years old or entering the seventh grade in this fall and attend one orientation session.

Sessions are scheduled throughout May and early June. Northwest Library, 2280 Hard Road, and Worthington Park Library, 1389 Worthington Centre Drive, will host orientations on Saturday, May 11; Northwest has programs scheduled at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Worthington Park's session will start at 2:30 p.m.

Other Worthington Park orientations are planned on Wednesday, May 15, at 7 p.m.; May 29, at 7 p.m.; June 4, at 3 p.m.; and June 19, at 7 p.m.

The remainder of Northwest Library's orientation sessions will be held on May 16, at 7 p.m. and May 30, at 6:30 p.m.

Old Worthington Library, 820 High St., will host sessions on May 28 at 7 p.m., May 30 at 4 p.m. and June 12 at 3 p.m.

Those attending should bring a tentative summer schedule, so they can sign up for shifts.
