Two recently graduated high school seniors, Alexandra Malone of Worthington Kilbourne and Joseph Reibel of Thomas Worthington, were awarded $1,000 scholarships from the Worthington-based Insight Bank.

Two recently graduated high school seniors, Alexandra Malone of Worthington Kilbourne and Joseph Reibel of Thomas Worthington, were awarded $1,000 scholarships from the Worthington-based Insight Bank.

Malone and Reibel were awarded the scholarships June 7 at the bank's office and headquarters on West Wilson Bridge Road. Both students exceeded the scholarship requirements by maintaining a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average, demonstrating an interest in banking, business or finance, and achieving admission to an Ohio college or university.

Malone, a member of National Honor Society, received the Socratic Society Award. She also earned Gold, Silver and Bronze Keys for maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher and eight varsity letters in lacrosse, tennis and basketball.

Malone participated in Worthington Leadership Volunteer Day, cleaning houses for elderly Worthington residents. She is also a tennis and basketball instructor for the Worthington Youth Boosters Camp. She will attend the Ohio State University.

Reibel is a two-time recipient of the Cardinal Star, receiving a Silver Star for earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher and making the honor roll every quarter throughout his high school career. He was a starting varsity mid-fielder for the TWHS boys' lacrosse team and was a member of the school's Entrepreneurship Business Academy. He also founded a lawncare business.

Reibel helps at the Worthington Food Pantry and Habitat for Humanity and teaches developmentally challenged kids to ride bikes. He will attend Miami University.
