Barbara (Barbie) J. Tootle has been elected to the Ohio State University Alumni Association's Board of Directors. She will start her five-year term at the conclusion of the October board of directors meeting.

Barbara (Barbie) J. Tootle has been elected to the Ohio State University Alumni Association's Board of Directors. She will start her five-year term at the conclusion of the October board of directors meeting.

Tootle, president of Left Field Consulting in Worthington, enjoyed a long career at Ohio State before retiring in 1999.

Tootle earned an undergraduate degree in business in 1965 and a graduate degree in sociology in 1968. As a student, she was active with organizations including Chimes, Mortar Board, and Pi Beta Phi, of which she was president. She has garnered several awards and recognitions associated with the university, including the Distinguished Service Award in 2008 and the Barbie Tootle Buckeye Spirit Award for support of women's athletics, named in her honor by the Varsity "O" Women's Alumnae Society. The Barbie Tootle Room in the Ohio Union was named for her in 2007 by former students.
