Watchdog group slates meeting on UMCH site

By ThisWeek Community News  •

Residents can learn about the positions of Worthington City Council candidates regarding the redevelopment of the United Methodist Children's Home site during a meeting scheduled for Oct. 1.

The Worthington Alliance for Responsible Development (WARD) will sponsor the meeting. According to a press release from the organization, all five candidates have agreed to attend.

Four council positions will be filled via vote on Nov. 5. Candidates are Rachael Dorothy, Scott Myers, Dave Norstrom, Rob Schmidt and Michael Troper.

The meeting will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Old Worthington Library, 780 High St.

WARD was formed a year ago after a proposal was made to build a Giant Eagle on the UMCH property. Members have said they want to have input on how the 40-acre property is redeveloped, saying development there would have a long-term impact on the lives of Worthington residents.
