Woman's wallet, credit cards stolen while at Worthington mall

By ThisWeek Community News  •

Worthington police are asking for help in finding two female suspects who allegedly stole a woman’s wallet while she was leaving the Shops at Worthington Place on Sept. 20.

About 11:20 a.m. that day, the owner noticed a black female standing in the doorway of an exit to the mall. She recognized her as one of two black females she had seen in a store with her while shopping earlier.

The suspect said her ring had been caught on the door handle and she could not get it loose. As the alleged victim attempted to assist the suspect, she was told the ring had become freed.

When the alleged victim arrived home, she received calls from her credit-card companies, asking about purchases being made on her cards. She then discovered her wallet was missing.

The suspect, who claimed to have had her ring caught, was described as wearing an orange top and wearing glasses, and her friend was described as wearing a hat.

They can be seen in store videos from four of the stores at which they used the stolen credit cards. They charged $7,069.94 worth of merchandise in about an hour.

One video showed the suspects in a tan or gold minivan.

Anyone with information is asked to call Worthington Detective Elizabeth Barrett at 614-885-4463 or email ebarrett@ci.worthington.oh.us.
