Dogs will have their day Oct. 6

The Village Green will be overcome by dogs and their two-legged friends Sunday, Oct. 6.

The annual Fido Fest and Pooch Parade is scheduled for noon to 5 p.m., with the parade at stepping off at 4 p.m.

More than 80 vendors will beon the Green, and the dogs -- many in costume -- will take part in activities and contests.

Canine sports demonstrations are scheduled for noon and 1:45 p.m.

The best-trick contest will be at 1:15, followed by bobbing for wieners at 1:30 p.m. The best wiggle/waggle contest will be at 2:45.

A local clergyman will bless the dogs at 3:30, just as they line up for the parade. Costumes will be judged during the parade.

A silent auction will close at 4:45 p.m.

Primary sponsors of the Fido Fest and Pooch Parade are Worthington Organized Off-Leash Friends (WOOF) and Pet Palace.
