Worthington Kilbourne High School is celebrating an American homecoming this week.
"America" will be the theme of the homecoming football game Oct. 18 against Olentangy, and students are expected to show up in roaring '20s fashions for the Great Gatsby-themed dance Saturday night.
Festivities started Saturday, Oct. 12, with the annual painting of the windows. Each class painted its own window based on the week's theme. The best window will be named during the Oct. 17 homecoming assembly.
Spirit week was to be celebrated each day.
On Monday, Oct. 14, students and staff members dressed as their favorite heroes. The theme was meant to remind everyone to be a hero and stand up to bullying.
Tuesday was pajama day, with everyone dressing accordingly; Wednesday was preppy day; and Thursday was America Day.
The traditional bonfire and games were scheduled for Wednesday evening.
The homecoming attendants and king and queen finalists were expected to be named during the Thursday assembly.
