The Worthington Noon Lions Club collected and donated 850 pairs of eyeglasses at a recent meeting at the Worthington Inn.

The Worthington Noon Lions Club collected and donated 850 pairs of eyeglasses at a recent meeting at the Worthington Inn.

The glasses will be donated to needy low-income people here and in foreign countries.

The Lions Club meets on the first and third Mondays for lunch and a program. The Worthington Lions Club is part of the International Association of Lions Clubs, one of the largest service organizations worldwide.

In addition to collecting used eyeglasses, the group supports library projects, provides free eye screening clinics, donates to Pilot Dogs and food pantries and is involved in other charitable activities.

Eyeglasses may be dropped off at 5406 N. High St. A box is in the lobby.

The group's annual poinsettia sale is held in November and December. Contact any Lions Club member or Richard Macer at 614-846-3667 or fax an order at 614-888-6995. A 20 percent discount is offered to churches and other organizations that purchase 25 or more plants.
