Car, items stolen, returned; thief captured

A vehicle and items stolen from other vehicles were returned to their owners after Columbus police apprehended a thief during the early morning hours of Nov. 13.

The vehicle was stolen from the 700 block of Morning Street.

A laptop computer stolen from a second vehicle in the 700 block of Morning Street was recovered from the suspect, as was a credit card stolen from a vehicle in the 800 block of Oxford Street.

All of the thefts occurred overnight Nov. 12.

In other Worthington Division of Police incident reports:

* At 11:46 p.m. Nov. 11, Worthington police stopped a 17-year-old boy who apparently was attempting to commit suicide by jumping off the overpass on West Wilson Bridge Road onto state Route 315.

Officers wrestled him to the ground.

The boy's mother reported he had been treated for mental issues. He was taken to the emergency room at University Hospital.

* A Worthington resident reported the theft of $10,000 worth of gold and $1,000 in cash from a safe deposit box at a bank in the 600 block of High Street between Sept. 6 and Nov. 14.

* Items were stolen from weightroom lockers at Thomas Worthington High School between 3 and 5 p.m. Nov. 15.

* Between 10:30 p.m. Nov. 15 and 7 p.m. Nov. 16, someone broke into the auditorium at Thomas Worthington High School and stole $650 from a lockbox.

* A vehicle hit a deer on High Street at Wilson Drive at 7:15 p.m. Nov. 15.
