Crafternoon: Holiday Ornaments

The library's new Crafternoon series for teens and adults kicks off at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 with a holiday ornaments installment scheduled at Old Worthington Library, 820 High St.

Those attending can experiment with one of two "green" ornament options. One recycles greeting cards from Christmases past and the other transforms scraps of old sweaters into wreath ornaments. All supplies are provided.

The program is free, but registration is required; you may do so at worthingtonlibraries. org/calendar/registration or by calling 614-807-2626.

Worthington Park Library Open House Celebration

Last year, the library resolved to improve service to the northeast part of its service district by expanding Worthington Park Library, 1389 Worthington Centre Drive. As construction continues, plans are in the works for an open house celebration at the library at 4 p.m. Jan. 10.

There will be tours of the new space, which will feature an expanded children's area, meeting room and enclosed Homework Help Center. Formal remarks start at 4:30 p.m.

Author visit: Augusten Burroughs

Next up in the library's Hear & Now author series is a visit from Augusten Burroughs, best-known for the memoir Running with Scissors, in which he recalls his teen years growing up as a ward of his mother's psychiatrist.

Tickets for Burroughs' presentation, which starts at 7 p.m. on Jan. 23, can be purchased for $10 (general public, including a meet-the-author reception). The event will be held at the McConnell Arts Center, 777 Evening St., and tickets are available there now; by phone at 614-431-0329.
