Traffic stop leads to arrests because car was stolen

A routine traffic stop resulted in two arrests for receiving stolen property after police discovered the vehicle was stolen.

The stop occurred at 2:20 a.m. Jan. 1 at High Street and Granville Road.

The male driver and female passenger were arrested after police learned that the vehicle they were in was stolen from an airport rental agency. Both were taken to jail.

In other Worthington police incident reports:

• A purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the lot of a store in the 900 block of High Street at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 31.

• A woman attending a wedding at a hotel in the 7000 block of North High Street reported her jacket stolen at 4:15 p.m. Dec. 29. The jacket contained a phone, keys and a wallet.

• A resident in the 500 block of South Selby Boulevard was cited for having a barking dog at 2:38 a.m. Jan. 5. She had been issued a warning the previous day.

• A woman was arrested for shoplifting groceries from Kroger at the Shops at Worthington Place between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Jan. 2. She was released on a summons.

Also on Jan. 2, a 24-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting at the mall.

• Staff members at a nursing home in the 6800 block of North High Street reported that a resident might have been the victim of an unauthorized credit-card purchase.

• Between Dec. 28 and 30, someone forcibly entered a house in the 6500 block of Masefield Street and stole items.
