Columbus Chapter of MovetoAmend Introductory Forum, 2 to 3:45 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Whetstone branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, 3909 N. High St. This local affiliate of the national Move to Amend organization is calling for a U.S. constitutional amendment to reverse several U.S. Supreme Court decisions during the past century. Columbus February Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 8 at St. Agatha's Parish Hall, 1860 Northam Road. Featured items include paintings, rustic home decor, glass lawn art, fabric pottery and jewelry. Admission is $3, free for children under age 12. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Hope Hollow, lodging that supports patients, families, and friends affected by cancer. Parking is free. J Street, launch of Columbus chapter with a book club-style discussion, 7 p.m. Feb. 10, at the Columbus Jewish Community Center, 1125 College Ave. This national pro-Israel, pro-peace movement, co-sponsored by the Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus and the Melton Center for Jewish Studies of the Ohio State University, will consider Israeli columnist Ari Shavit's bestseller, My Promised Land. Moderator will be Ohio State history professor Robin Judd. The chapter is co-chaired by Isaiah Shalwitz and Cantor Jack Chomsky. Ted Fisher will lead the group's political activities. Worthington Education Association, Read Across America!, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Worthington Community Center. This kick-off celebration for the NEA's Read Across America will celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday and promote early literacy with Nationwide Children's Hospital and their Reach Out and Read book drive. Families can donate a new preschool book/person to swim for free during the event. Cost to swim without a book donation is $5 per child and $8 per adult.
