Making marks

The 2014 Central Ohio Regional Scholastic Arts Awards exhibition will open Jan. 17 and run through Feb. 1 at Columbus College of Art & Design's Canzani Center Gallery .

Artists in grades seven through 12 submitted 1,006 individual pieces and portfolios, 457 of which were selected by judges for the final exhibition. Photographs, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry and digital art are among the pieces.

Among the students who received Best of Show honors as American Visions Medal nominees for national recognition is George Liu of Worthington Kilbourne High School.

Best of Show honorees were chosen from 42 regional Gold Key honorees who are considered for national-level recognition and may be eligible for scholarships at participating art and design colleges and universities throughout the country.

CCAD's Canzani Center Gallery is at Cleveland Avenue and East Gay Street in downtown Columbus. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The gallery is closed on Mondays. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
