The Worthington Thrift Shop, an all-volunteer non-profit organization, donated $10,000 to the Columbus Cancer Clinic at its annual meeting.
This donation raises the shop's total donation to the clinic since 2007 to $137,000.
The shop is celebrating its 47th anniversary this January, and hopes to raise another $10,000 to have a total donation of $147,000 for the year.
Over the years, the shop has raised nearly $2 million for cancer research and patient care. When the shop was founded, funds went to the American Cancer Society, but a change in tax law required that the shop find a different cause. Now all funds raised stay in Franklin County.
The shop, located at 5600 N. High St, is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Daily special sales will be offered Jan. 28 through Feb. 1, to celebrate the anniversary, along with a raffle for a gift basket.
