Safety event set for May 16 at community center

Touch a Truck and a Safety Event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon May 16, at the Worthington Community Center parking lot, 345 E. Wilson Bridge Road.

Kids will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of their favorite vehicles, from ambulances to fire trucks, military vehicles to taxis and race cars to helicopters. Arts & crafts, a bounce house, mascots and rides on the rail train also will be featured.

Car seat checks will be available (call 614-645-7748 to make an appointment), the American Academy of Pediatrics will pass out bike helmets (limited quantity) and the Red Cross Bloodmobile will accept donations.

Admission is free, but attendees are asked to bring a canned food item to help Stuff the Truck to be donated to the Worthington Food Pantry.

A "no horn hour" will be observed from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. for those with sensitive ears. In case of inclement weather, call 614-436-2743.
