From wiping noses and shelving books to raising money for playground equipment and maintaining websites, volunteers did it all in the Worthington schools this year.
The Worthington Noon Lions Club recognized 19 volunteers -- one from each school in the district -- during a reception at the Worthington Education Center on May 12.
As each was called to the podium, Lions Club member Thomas O'Mahoney read a list of what each had contributed.
Some taught children to read through Project More; others directed school plays, and others raised money and helped with levy campaigns.
The ones honored had contributed much to their schools but only represented what other do on a daily basis, Lions Club speakers said.
A total of 1,200 community members volunteered in the schools during the 2013-14 school year. They contributed 30,000 hours to help make the schools and its children successful.
