Summer reading program features more prize chances

By

The popular summer reading program will offer more ways for all participants to win prizes this summer.

The 2014 Worthington Libraries Summer Reading Club, which is open to children and adults, is more than a reading program; it's a learning program, according to library staff.

The program is offering even more ways to get prizes like food from Donatos and Chipotle, gift cards to Polaris Fashion Place and GameStop, sweets from Dairy Queen and California Pizza Kitchen, toys from Learning Express Toys, bikes and other prizes.

Participants must read for the required time, of course, but they also may mix reading with attending library programs and completing do-it-yourself activities at home or in the library. Go to WorthingtonLibraries. org/calendar for details.

This variety of completion options is one reason why the theme of this year's club is "Choose Your Own Journey."

Registration officially starts Saturday, May 31, online at worthingtonlibraries.org/src and at all three library locations (Old Worthington Library, 820 High St.; Northwest Library, 2280 Hard Road; and Worthington Park Library, 1389 Worthington Centre Drive).

Those interested in signing up early may do so online or at Worthington Park Library's kickoff party Friday, May 30. The party will feature face-painting, parachute games, visits from costumed characters and other activities starting at 6 pm.
