By

On Saturday, June 14, plan to attend Summer in the 614, a something-for-everybody event on Worthington's Village Green from 4 to 8:30 p.m.

Children will meet characters from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and mascots from the Columbus Blue Jackets and Columbus Crew, and they'll get a closeup view of the horses in the mounted unit from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

Vendors will include Kona, Menchie's, Grub Gallery, and Tatoheads, and downtown restaurants will be open.

Attractions will include the Columbus Blue Jackets street hockey team, the COSI street team and an Ohio State University Buckeyes mobile tour.

Many popular central Ohio musicians will perform. The band lineup includes Hebdo, Molly Winters Band, Jared Mahone and Josh Krajcik.

The Worthington Parks and Recreation Department decided to host this event to draw more people to Worthington.

"Our main goal with Summer in the 614 is to bring people into Worthington, showcase our city and to give them a reason to come back," said Julie Sargent of the parks department.
