Worthington: Assaults reported at pool

A patron and a lifeguard reported being assaulted by an unknown male at the Worthington Pool, 400 W. Granville Road, at 5:20 p.m. Aug. 23.

When staff members chased the assailant, the manager of the pool was assaulted by a man who is believed to be an associate of the assailant, according to reports.

Police stopped a car and arrested a passenger who is believed to have assaulted the manager. The man who allegedly assaulted the lifeguard and patron was not found.

The lifeguard and manager were treated at the scene by Worthington medics.

In other Worthington police incident reports:

• A woman in the 500 block of Park Boulevard reported her drug dealer assaulted her and stole her car at 8:45 a.m. Aug. 19. She said she owed him a $100 debt and that she knows him by only his first name.

Her black 2009 Mercedes was recovered in Columbus. The investigation continues.

• On Aug. 19, two thieves made off with scrap materials from a business in the 6900 block of Worthington-Galena Road. The theft was captured on video.

• A backpack and lock were stolen from a gym locker at Thomas Worthington High School on Aug. 21.

• The owner of a business in the 6400 block of Huntley Road reported that a manager had been embezzling money from the company. The manager said he needed the money for a drug habit and promised to repay it last fall, according to the owner. He has not done so.
