Thomas looking to halt losing streak

The Thomas Worthington High School girls basketball team was seeking to snap a six-game losing streak when it played at Hilliard Darby on Jan. 22.

Thomas also plays host to Westland on Friday, Jan. 25, in an OCC-Central Division game.

The Cardinals lost to host Upper Arlington 62-48 on Jan. 18 to fall to 4-10 overall and 2-7 in the league. That followed a 58-37 non-league loss to Dublin Scioto on Jan. 15.

The last win for the Cardinals was 56-33 over Tree of Life on Dec. 27.

Senior guard Maria Bonilla led Thomas against UA with 16 points, and senior guard Frannie Frazier added 12.

Against Scioto, Frazier had 13 points.

Wolves beat Cougars to snap skid

Kilbourne remained winless in the OCC-Cardinal when it lost to Westerville South 46-42 on Jan. 18, but the Wolves broke a three-game skid by defeating Westland 47-44 in a non-league game Jan. 15.

Against South, the Wolves rallied from a 19-11 halftime deficit to take a fourth-quarter lead before Chyna Porter's 3-pointer with 59 seconds left put the Wildcats ahead 44-42. Guard Kayla Pack scored 17 points and forward Carlie Taute added 16 to lead Kilbourne.

The Wolves used a 16-12 fourth-quarter advantage to beat Westland, as Pack scored 12 of her game-high 23 points in the period. Taute added 14.

Kilbourne, which is 5-11 overall and 0-9 in league play as it enters a home game Friday, Jan. 25, against Westerville Central, also lost to Scioto 61-29 on Jan. 11.
