Thomas set to face Davidson
The Thomas Worthington High School girls basketball team is hoping to turn the tables on host Hilliard Davidson in the regular-season finale Friday, Feb. 8.
The Cardinals lost to the Wildcats 41-37 on Jan. 8, but would like to carry some momentum into the Division I district tournament. They will play at 13th-seeded New Albany in the first round Feb. 16.
Davidson was 17-3 overall and 10-2 in the OCC-Central Division before playing Olentangy Liberty on Feb. 5.
Thomas improved to 7-12 overall and 3-9 in the OCC-Central with a 47-36 win over Marysville on Feb. 1, as guard Frannie Frazier scored 14 points and guard Laura Gomez added 12.
The Cardinals lost to Dublin Coffman 80-26 on Jan. 29.
Wolves struggling as tourney nears
Kilbourne put itself in position to earn its first OCC-Cardinal victory Jan. 29 against Hilliard Darby.
But the host Panthers outscored the Wolves 13-5 in the fourth quarter to turn a 31-all tie into a 44-36 victory that dropped Kilbourne to 5-14 overall and 0-12 in the league. Forward Carli Taute scored 12 points for Kilbourne.
Guard Kayla Pack scored 13 points in a 47-30 loss to Hilliard Bradley on Feb. 1. Kilbourne trailed 30-7 at halftime.
The Wolves close the regular season Tuesday, Feb. 12, at home against Big Walnut and play their Division I district tournament opener Feb. 16 at sixth-seeded Westerville North.
